History Of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Delhi

In the Seventeenth century, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, originally known as Jaisinghpura Palace was the bungalow of a Rajput ruler, Raja Jai Singh. In 1664, when Guru Har Krishan, the eighth Sikh Guru visited Delhi, he stayed in this Palace. During his stay, the cases of cholera and smallpox increased in the region and Guru Har Krishan helped the victims by providing them fresh water from the well, whose healing power helped in curing the disease of the victims.

But soon, he also contracted the illness and unfortunately died on 30 March 1664. Later, Raja Jai Singh constructed a small tank over the well and is believed to have healing properties. The water of the Sarovar is called “Amrit” and is believed to have magical healing properties. Various Devotees take the water in the bottles with themselves.
