Jaipur Zoo spread over an area of 35 acres, is India’s most popular zoo. It is located in Ram Niwas Garden near Albert Hall Museum of Jaipur. It was founded in 1877 and is one of India’s oldest zoo’s. It was built with an intention to preserve and conserve wildlife including mammals, birds and reptiles. It is home to the richest fauna of Rajasthan and has around 550 animals and birds of more than 50 different species.

Jaipur zoo is divided into two parts, i.e. Animal section and Bird section along with reptiles. Zoo also has a museum which exhibits the wildlife of Rajasthan. The Zoo was established under the WildLife Protection Act and run by Rajasthan State Government. It is also the fourth largest gharial breeding farm of the country and also carries various breeding programs including crocodiles, cheetal and gharials. As of 2018, the government has also decided to build aviaries in the Zoo.

Jaipur zoo is one of the famous places for day picnics and school trips. It is the perfect place where kids can enjoy and learn about different animals. The zoo is also popular for the students who are interested in botanical and zoological studies. It is one of the best Zoo in Jaipur.

The Jaipur zoological park was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1868 as a zoo for the royal family of Jaipur. Gradually, It evolved into a public institution and opened to the public in 1877. It is one of the oldest zoo’s in India.
