Bannerghatta National Park is a famous wildlife sanctuary located 22 km from Bangalore city. Opened in 1970, Bannerghatta National Park is famous for its lion and tiger safaris. The park is spread over an area of 104.27 Sq Km and features a wide variety of rare and endangered flora and fauna.

Bannerghatta National Park offers diverse attractions including a zoo, auditorium, museum, aquarium, safari and boating. The Park is home to tigers, lions, elephants, wild boars, Indian bison, leopards, deer, bears, birds and butterflies. Some of the notable species include Thiamin deer, hog deer, king cobra, Himalayan black bear and Malabar giant squirrel. It also has beneficial herbs and plants like neem and tamarind.

One of the main attractions of this park is its safaris. The park offers various safaris to its visitors like lion safari, tiger safari and elephant safari. The park offers one-hour safari on jeeps, cars and buses and during the safari, you can spot different animals like leopards, white tigers, Bengal tigers, and lions.

The National Park houses a Butterfly Park established in 2006 by the Zoo Authority of Karnataka, University of Agricultural Sciences and the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment. I

t covers 7.5 acres of land and features 20 different butterfly species. The park is covered by a polycarbonate roof to create a tropical and humid environment artificially. Additionally, there is a rescue centre which plays a huge role in saving wildlife by protecting endangered species. The park is committed to wildlife protection and provides valuable educational experiences, making it an important ecological asset.
